Pneumatic Hybrid Electric Vehicle, PHEV.

Another interesting Air Car, is the Korean model by Energine. This is a Pneumatic Hybrid Electric Vehicle or PHEV. The Compressed Air Technologies, or CAT, engine is used whenever the car needs lots of energy, to start and accelerate. And the electrical drivetrain is used to maintain velocity and cruise, requiring a lot less power overall than all-electric cars. Sometimes, when it is considered optimal by the onvoard computer, both engines are used at the same time.
